His laugh alone was funny enough...but the last time we were together, he wore a pair of long jeans to the pool in 100 degree weather. It took a little convincing, but he went in and changed into a pair of Draymond's swim trunks (Draymond is about 4 inches smaller in the waist than Joshua and about 40lbs lighter). Get the picture???
Its your birthday and we all probably would race to call and try to be number one to call. Of course i would win. But wwjd its so many things about u that makes laugh. Like the time you and rico tried to shave your heads bald with nair remover and ending up with sores all over your heads. Or shaving off only one side of your mustache to see who would notice. Or when I lived with you and you woke me up by shooting me with a bb gun. Always keeping us on our toes. Its hard to sum you up in a wwjd because the real question is what wouldn't you do. U always kept a smile on my face and I miss u more everyday but I knw u having one of your best birthdays ever in Heaven. So happy birthday brother! I'm number 1
I think a great Josh story is the one where he faked sick to stay at home sick to stay home from school for about 4 days and was ordering pizza each day. However, on day 4 Pepper came home from work inexpectedly to check on him. Unfortunately for Josh the pizza delivery guy was also on his way to deliver. Josh then made up some convoluted story about some anonymous person sending unrequested pizzas to the house. He had to come clean when Pepper was about to call the police. We later found about 5 or 6 empty large pizza boxes in our outside storage room. Happy Birthday Josh. You're a Liddell Legend now.
For those of us who know: Just imagine if Josh, "The Donald" and I could play golf again (like we did) and putting "The Donald" in fast forward. We wouldn't get off the floor from laughter. That's too funny! ROFL The Murff (uncle)
This is an unedited transcript of a conversation I had with Josh on September 16, 2010 after he had moved to Las Vegas. It starts out with me making a totally spontaneous remark:
Me: I miss you. Josh: I have no idea if that last text was meant for me, but I miss you as well, Momma. Most of all, your unadulterated honesty regardless of consequence. And there is no facetiousness or sarcasm cleverly tucked within that sentence. A rare unencumbered nugget of honesty. Me: Rare? Josh: Lol. Extremely. I would archive that text. Me: Hah! U trying to turn my lemonade into lemons. Josh: Working? Me: Nah. You just can't get the sugar out, sugar. Josh: Then I, your son, have failed you. Me: You can't. Josh: Ha! Me: I love you regardless. Josh: Awwww .. Scary loves you, too. Me: Hrmph Me: Guess what I'm thinking Josh: PoopooDoodoo
[From there the conversation just denigrates (further) into nothingness - LOL]
I also remember how he trained his dog, Scary, to open the refrigerator door, go inside and get a Gatorade, and bring it to Uncle Josh on the couch. Kira, niece
Uncle Josh bought us a little pool. They were doing backflips in the pool. Josh threw the dog Scary in the pool almost tearing the pool up. We all threw water on Uncle Josh. He was soaked. Little P, nephew
Rachel convinced me to run in a race in 2010 that her and I ran. I wasnt in any condition to run and Josh knew that. I was completely exhausted at the end of the race and there was a 1/4 mile hill to climb at the end. I was taken by surprise to see Josh meet me at the bottom of the hill and chase me shouting words of encouragement all the way to the end. I will never forget his motivation.
when i first pj, josh, and jonathan, i was in my last year @State. They had convinced me that Momma and Poppa wouldn't mind if I took them to burger king. on the ride back, i was following their directions....why did we wind up out stark rd somewhere?!?!? my consolation prize: josh gave me (for a $5 "donation")an african beaded one-of-a-kind necklace; i TREASURED that necklace...only to find out josh had SEVERAL of these one-of-a-kind neckalaces FOR SALE!!!! i love my joshawalla! ~genea

Been reading this a while and feeling so sad but so IMPRESSED at the same time with how you are FACING and DEALING and WORKING through your grief and loss everyday - it takes SO, SO much courage. It shows all of us how to grieve with the strength of God. I've not been sure what to say - as I didn't have the chance to meet my dear brother - in -law. But - the memories I do have of him - are how he made my husband laugh - on Facebook (makin fun of Poppa at Dunkin Donuts that inauguration day)- and when they were together - it was the ONLY time I've heard my husband laugh so hard he couldn't talk to me on the phone! So I haven't met him - but the memories I do have - make me smile.
WWJD - He probably wouldn't say it in these types of words but much of the sentiment would be there:
Everything remains exactly as it was. I am I, and you are you, and the old life that we lived so fondly together is untouched, unchanged. Whatever we were to each other, that we are still. Call me by the old familiar name. ("Josh") Speak of me in the easy way which you always used. Put no difference into your tone. Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow. Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes that we enjoyed together. Play, smile, and think of me.
Let my name be ever the household word that it always was. Let it be spoken without an effort, without the ghost of a shadow upon it. Life means all that it ever meant. It is the same as it ever was. There is absolute and unbroken continuity. Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight? I am but waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near, just around the corner. All is well!
Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free. I could not stay another day to laugh, to love, to work or play. Tasks left undone must stay that way. I've found that peace at the close of a day. If my parting has left a void, then fill it with remembered joy. A friendship is shared, a laugh, a kiss, all these things I too, will miss. Be not burdened with times of sorrow. I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow. My life's been full, I have savored much! Good friends, good times, good music, a loved one's touch! Perhaps my time seemed all too brief; don't lengthen it now with undue grief. Lift up your hearts for now, my friends; I am with Jesus who loves me.

I remember Uncle Josh laying on the floor in WalMart and 2 year old Sydney sitting on his stomach playing with a toy. Kira, niece
Uncle Josh bought us a little pool. They were doing backflips in the pool. Josh threw the dog Scary in the pool almost tearing the pool up. We all threw water on Uncle Josh. He was soaked. Little P, nephew
Josh made his dog Scary lick me on the face. Jordan, nephew

Forgot to say the transcribed conversation referenced above was a text message I did archive thanks to my tech savvy surrogate son, Paul luckett
